Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero 8/10

In a turn of events, I actually found a book that's come out recently.  Meddling Kids is a this meets that sort of book where the book is Scooby-Doo meets the H.P. Lovecraft mythos. The first thing to make sure you know before going in is that it's not supposed to be taken seriously it's really over the top goofy, and just ridiculous.
The idea itself really meshes well the conflict inherent in the attempt to suture the scooby-doo world (which is specifically anti-supernatural), and the Lovecraft world (which is specifically anti-empirical). This creates a really interesting tension.
There are a few points that the fan-service gets to in the way of everything. There's actually a scene where the Velma character tries to get with the Daphne character, and it comes out about as hacky as it sounds.
The mystery isn't amazing, but its got a few good twists throughout the book. I really ended up enjoying this. I hope you do too.
