Serengeti by J.B. Rockwell 4/10

This certainly wasn't the worst book I've read recently, but the best; it is not. It started with an actually good concept. It's about ships that have personalities that are based on the model of the ship they are. It starts out with some mildly interesting interactions with the different ships, but once the human characters leave the ship isn't an interesting enough character to actually propel the story forward in any meaningful way (and she's the point-of-view character for the rest of the book).
The fact that the main character is human enough to understand what's going on around her, but not human enough to have flaws or have meaningful interactions makes it boring. Seriously, it's like if the uncanny valley if the uncanny valley were a metaphor for boredom instead of something unsettling. This book isn't worth the read.
