Lost Boy: The True Story of Captain Hook by Christina Henry 9/10

Going into this book I had a lot of reservations. People who think they have a unique idea usually think the idea itself will carry the entire story though, and don't do the work they need too making everything good. I was almost instantly won over. The book takes place before the events of the 'Peter Pan,' story.
One thing the author did well was pacing. If you're going to rewrite a fairy tale and switch around who the actual villain is you need to ease the person into it. She did a great job slowly convincing me of just how diabolical Peter Pan is. Just superb.
The other drawback that was answered well was would this lean too much on the original source material, and depend on the reader too much to fill things in. She doesn't by the end of the book you feel you've come full circle. The book does exactly what it's supposed too. I loved this. Pick it up.
