The Mermaid by Christina Henry 8/10
I really like Christina Henry, and her interesting retelling of fairy tales with a dark twist. When I first saw this book I immediately assumed that it was a retelling of 'The Little Mermaid.' Even though there is actually a mermaid in the book it isn't. This book is really different from her other works. The other works are all pretty violent. This book is also pretty adult, but not violent. It's a lot sweeter than any of her other works. At points it comes right up to the edge of being sentimental, and at points it is. It's a sweet story that's good, but not great.
